Standard Charging Updates

Why we are building around free public EV charging.

Why Standard Charging is building sponsor-supported free EV charging for Oregon destinations, drivers, hosts, and local communities.

Most EV charging asks drivers to think about apps, accounts, rates, and whether the station will work. Standard Charging is built around a simpler public experience: arrive at a useful local destination, plug in, and spend the stop enjoying the place around the charger.

The business model is sponsor-supported because the charging stop itself can create value. Hosts gain a better visitor amenity, sponsors earn real-world visibility, and drivers get a cleaner reason to stop at local businesses instead of treating charging like a chore.

This approach starts carefully in Oregon, with Albany and nearby Willamette Valley communities as the first practical focus. The goal is not to make exaggerated infrastructure promises; it is to build useful charging stops, report transparently, and reinvest as the network grows.
